The Definition of Truth

I realized today that we have a hard time defining truth. It is quite a scary thought because then you wonder, are we able to tell the difference between truth and lies. Try defining it yourself and see what you can come up with. Try asking other people to do it and see what you get. The problem is that we complicate the answer with perception when they are two separate concepts. People used to think that everything revolved around the earth but now we know the earth revolves around the sun which revolves around the galaxy which is also in motion. People used to think the earth was flat but now we know it is more like a sphere. All of these supposed truths are now false but at the time they were accepted. how do we know that what we know now is true. Well let me give you a few definitions that should help explain all of this.

Truth - what is

Perception - how we choose to see truth

This is how you define truth and perception. Truth is not what we want to believe but perception is. Perception is often how we want to see truth to fit our ideals. Sometimes our perception of truth is accurate and sometimes it is not. It is up to us to discover if what we perceive is truth
